Network Integrity Assurance Technologies (NiAT) launched Brunei’s first-ever postcards-to-space project titled “4,000 Postcards from Brunei to Space” in November of last year.
This project was a part of NiAT’s initiative to promote space awareness among Bruneians across the Sultanate. Brunei participated in this project for the first time in an effort to promote STEAM education in Brunei in accordance with Brunei Vision 2035.
As part of World Space Week, the project was initiated by NiAT in partnership with ‘Club for the Future’ based in Texas, United States. Through discussions, Brunei was then allotted a quota of 4,000 postcards that will take a trip to space.
Over the next two months, NiAT organized several school visits and public events with the cooperation of the Ministry of Education, STEP Centre, associations, organizations, and members of the public in an effort to attain the aforementioned goal. By the 15th of January 2023, NiAT had gathered an astounding 7,218 postcards, surpassing its initial goal by 84%.
NiAT finally mailed all postcards to Texas via DHL on January 20, 2023 and it has reached Club for the Future’s processing facility in Texas recently.
As space mementos, these postcards will be loaded onto a rocket named New Shepard, blasted into outer space, and then delivered back to Earth with the Flown to Space postmark. After everything is executed, the postcards will be mailed back to Brunei, and NiAT will send them to each of the participants’ home address individually.
