On 1 September, NiAT installed a new very small aperture terminal (VSAT) satellite communications system at the India Space Research Organisation Telemetry, Tracking, and Command (ISRO TTC) Station in Tungku Submarine Cable Station, Bandar Seri Begawan.
The purpose of the installation is to establish a satellite link between Brunei and ISRO’s rocket launch spaceport in Sriharikota Range (SHAR), India. It will be used as communications medium for voice and data transmissions, such as rocket launch performance parameters as it fleets across the Brunei horizon. To date, the Brunei TTC station has been involved with a total of 20 launches.
The ISRO TTC Station primarily supports all launch vehicles and satellite missions of ISRO. It consists of installation for reception and recording of launch vehicle or spacecraft telemetry signals, and transmission of telecommand signals and tracking tones to launch vehicles and spacecraft.
The installation was inaugurated by the High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Ajaneesh Kumar. Present during the installation were Unified National Networks Sdn Bhd (UNN) CEO Dr. Steffan Oehler and NiAT CEO Lim Ming Soon. Participating virtually were ISTRAC Bengaluru Director Dr V. V. Srinivasan and NiAT Deputy CEO Siti Nuraazzah PDHA Aziz.
