Do you dare dream for the stars? Then gather around!
Every year, a group of like-minded individuals under the Karman Project gather to discuss and exchange ideas on all things space. One such meeting is the Karman Community Speed Dating which our very own DCEO, Aazzah Aziz, took part in recently.
How it worked was that the 28 participants were paired and given 3 rounds comprising 15 minutes per meeting to get to know each other better and share their experiences.
Aazzah had conversations with 4 individuals during the event. They are:
- Jessica Meir, NASA astronaut, marine biologist, and physiologist from USA
- Clarisse Iribagiza, CEO of Hehe from Rwanda
- Narayan Prasad, CEO of Satsearch from India
- Dr Soyeon Yi, astronaut from South Korea
One of the main points Aazzah highlighted during her conversations was her vision to launch Brunei’s very own satellite, PERISAI 01. She took the opportunity to gain knowledge and experiences from the other participants, in hopes to manifest and materialise her own visions of Bruneians in space into reality.
The Karman Project is a non-government initiative based in Berlin, Germany, chaired by Helene Huby. Helene is currently the VP of European Service Module at Airbus Defence and Space.
Each year, the Karman Project gathers members from a melting pot of nationalities and sectors for activities designed to facilitate personal engagement, trust-building, inspiration, and impact.
Aazzah Aziz is one of the top 50 Karman Pioneers, and the only Bruneian member. Two of the participants that Aazzah spoke to, Dr Soyeon Yi and Jessice Meir, are the top 15 Karman Fellows of 2021. The top 15 fellows have been selected for their exceptional professional achievement and impact in space or a space-related field, among others.
