NIAT’s continued ability to quickly respond to a customer crisis once again proved successful for one of its key clients.
In October of 2023, a client contacted NIAT, that they encountered an issue with their IP Phone that needed to be rectified. Two field technicians were immediately dispatched onboard the client’s vessel to fix the problem and ensure that communication was restored.
Upon their arrival, the technical team conducted a comprehensive assessment, inspected the physical cables, and hardware components. At the same time, one network engineer at NIAT’s Network Operation Centre (NOC) in Telisai assisted the field team with network configurations remotely.
The team also had to deal with several challenges, one of which being the vessel’s cluttered cable management which led to the confusion of the IP phone’s defective cables. Additionally, the weather-related intermittent Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) connectivity made it even more challenging for the team to identify and rectify the IP Phone issue because of the unstable network.
However, with the help of the vessel’s crew onboard, the field team successfully overcame these challenges and restored its communication within just two days
