On Thursday, 13th January 2022, Network Integrity Assurance Technologies (NiAT) Sdn Bhd and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the purpose of collaborating on technology and information sharing related to Geographical Information System and the use of NiAT’s proprietary OBSERVE ™ GIS platform.
The signing ceremony was conducted virtually via Zoom.
The online event was attended by Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of UTB, Dr. Mohamad Saiful bin Haji Omar, Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Industry and Services) at UTB, Lim Ming Soon, CEO of NiAT; and Siti Nur Aazzah binti Pehin Dato Haji Abdul Aziz, Deputy CEO of NiAT.
CEO of NiAT, Lim Ming Soon, and Professor Dr. Dayang Hajah Zohrah later signed the MoU.
Siti Nur Aazzah, in her opening remarks, said “I hope that this MoU will also foster mutual understanding and further cooperation, resulting in more exciting and mutually beneficial outcomes for both UTB and NiAT. We firmly believe that this will be full of promise, and we are eager to see it succeed and grow. UTB and NiAT will officially initiate joint research initiatives, set up platforms for student and academic exchanges, conduct knowledge sharing sessions for both industrial and academic purposes.”
Dr. Mohamad Saiful also added on “The collaboration between UTB and NiAT is in line with UTB’s vision of becoming a “Global University Impacting Society”, and also supports the nation’s drive to realise Brunei’s Vision 2035. UTB is deeply committed towards achieving its 5-year strategic plan that focuses on 4 areas; Quality Education, Independent learners, Translational Research and Quadruple Helix Engagement. The collaboration and cooperation with local industries, such as NiAT, can contribute to solving local and global challenges.”
With this, we can only anticipate continued growth in the GIS technology industry in line with His Majesty’s vision towards creating a smarter and connected nation that propels us towards the Nation Vision 2035.
